Make it count: The push up.

There has been a lot of talk in CF circles about the standards maintained/maintainable for the CrossFit Open.  There's an honour code emerging, as much as a reliance on assertive and observant judges, and unfortunately some degree of subjectivity.  With the second WOD of the competition, there has been a good bit of grey area on what is considered acceptable which is never a good thing when you're dealing with sticklers and competitive types.

This fantastic trio of videos came my way via the wondrous web and not only demonstrate a really safe push up, they show how hard a real push up is, and how it's proper execution relates to strength in other movements in life and in CrossFit.

Now, it's our job to bring that sort of coaching to you, but if you're so inclined and have a few moments to spare, I do recommend watching these three clips.  Carl Paoli is a dynamic and articulate coach and makes the intricacies of the push up pretty enthralling.

Check out the first in the three:

Go here for the rest, it's really worth it.

Now what's for WOD 3??

Oh -and gym update.  Bathrooms are set to be finished on Thursday, which means WE'RE ALMOST OPEN!!!!!
